[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6259, June 19, 1971 ]

AN ACT AMENDING SECTION ONE AND SECTION TWO OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-SIX HUNDRED NINETY (RE SECOND LEYTE HIGHWAY ENGINEERING DISTRICT).

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1

The phrase "with headquarters in Ormoc City" immediately after the word Leyte, in Section one of Republic Act Numbered Thirty-six hundred ninety is hereby amended to read as follows: "with headquarters in the Municipality of Baybay, Province of Leyte."

Section 2

Section two of the same Act is hereby repealed and in lieu thereof the following is inserted which shall read as follows: "There shall be a separate District Engineer and a separate Cashier and Disbursing Officer of the Second Leyte Highway Engineering District with compensation at the rate authorized under existing laws, all payable from the Highway Special Fund or any available fund of the Second Highway Engineering District. The Cashier and Disbursing Officer for the Second Highway Engineering District, shall be appointed by the Secretary of Public Works and Communications upon recommendation of the District Engineer concerned."

Section 3

All national and provincial properties and/or equipment and records now being used and/or administered by the ex-officioDistrict Engineer of the Second highway Engineering District stand transferred to the separate Second Highway Engineering District Office.

Section 4

For the purpose of giving effect to this Act, all the unexpended balances of the appropriation of the Second Highway Engineering District now under the control and administration of theex-officioDistrict Engineer andex-officiodisbursing officer are hereby made available for the operation of the separate Second Highway Engineering District Office until June thirty, nineteen hundred and seventy. Thereafter, funds for the operation and maintenance of the separate Second Highway Engineering District shall be provided in the General Appropriations Act.

Section 5

All existing laws or parts thereof, executive orders and administrative regulations contrary to the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Section 6

This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
