CD-R King – Pirate Kings of Smuggling?

The Optical Media Board (OMB) slapped CD-R King with a P1.5 million penalty for failing to produce permits for some of its optical media disc importations.

CD-R King is a registered company allowed by the OMB to import blank, rewritable optical discs. Valenzuela (of OMB) said that the OMB is also seeking the cancellation of the license of CD-R King to sell optical media in the country.

As if things couldn’t get any worse, they were even found using pirated softwares in their business operations. Tsk tsk.

Coincidentally, OMB has recently conducted its “validation inspection” to verify a tip it received that the same company was using unlicensed software in its operations in the country.

CD-R hit the jackpot years ago after setting the trend of selling dirt-cheap recordable compact discs. They now have over 60 branches all over the country. I remember seeing their first store in Greenhills Virra Mall. The place was packed. It took me 30 minutes to get my stack of CD’s. Up to now, they’re selling CD’s like hotcakes. Goes to show that Pinoys have a penchant for sharing movies and songs (whoops). CD-R King has also ventured into super cheap computer accessories. Their mice, headphones, USB sticks are actually pretty good. Yeah, you can call it the poor man’s Best Buy.

It makes me wonder though if this whole sting operation was legitimate or is the OMB after something other than enforcing the law? Hmmm. Someone’s gonna have a ton of BenQ CD’s in his garage today, that’s for sure.

  4. Para sa akin ok lang yung mga blank cds/dvd nila pero on thing for sure, fail yung most ng mga electronic gadgets nila.

Yung mga mp3/4 players, they suck bigtime! tunog lata yung speakers, earphones, at headsets nila at madaling masira.

That proves that cdr king does not always sell the cheapest priced products.

  5. kahit saan tindahan at tinda, may gud at bad experience. kaya nga sumikat cdrking kasi mura at madaming pagpipilian. pag natapat ka sa factory defect, sori talaga. ganon talaga tao, iyong mareklamo, may ibabayad pero ayaw bumili ng mahal..tingnan mo, karamihan ng mareklamo at sumusumpa, iyong mataas ang aral at mayaman..in the first place, kung matalino at mayaman ka..dont go to cdrking kc cheap, tapos magrereklamo ka..doon ka sa pangyaman..tutal milyon ginastos mo for ur education tapos magtyatyaga ka sa cdr king..mahirap talaga kapag umaasenso ang cdr king..dami galit at inggit..simple lng, ayaw mo ng cdrking, huwag..wala namang pilitan..kung toyota at honda, may recall e..plus nagbuwis pa ng mga buhay..lahat ng bagay may katapat. dami kc tao gusto ng BMW, Benz at Audi, pero gustong bumayad ng pandyip.

  6. Yes i believe that low price means ussualy
low quality.China made products is often dubbed
as fake or peke but on the contrary that is not
always the case.manufacturer in china can give
a quality product {whatever it is}as long as your willing to pay for it.My cousin once gave me a radio se am/fm from new york and the label
at the back of the radio reads Made in China!
Most of Cdrs products came from China Electronics, mostly.I think its safe to say that
it only depends on how much the buyer wants to pay.

  7. Hayyy if i were a millionaire id buy products
From US Germany,Japan he he he.The truth is deciding what or where to buy also depends sa wallet natin.Purchasing power natin mababa eh..and im sure China is well aware of that!I know China is also exporting products to countries like US,Canada ETC.If we want to trade
quality for price then..ggo to the nearest cdr store.

  8. tsambahan lang rin naman ang pag bili sa cdrking..maswerte ka kung makabili ka ng product na magtatagal. may nabili akong USB btooth, 4 yrs na siya ngaun ok pa naman

  9. tang ina mo andrew. “you can call it the poor man’s Best Buy.” oo mahirap lang kamng pinoy pero puta ka

  10. CD-R KIng has been successful cos they are CHEAP
And, like any franchise, they have a system
and there is one other thing:
Filipinos want champagne quality items at Red-Horse prices
If you want Quality, pay for it, if you want cheeep, be happy with it
Seems too many fil folks are cheapskates

  11. Thumbs down sa CD R King… Low quality mga memory cards and thumbdrives nila… sakin cdrking 8gb pero lahat ng mga files ko nasira, corrupted lahat, nasayang ang mga files lalo na mga pictures ko na nakalagay dun… stick to the QUALITY not QUANTITY..
