Batang Yagit is Rich and Famous

I’ve known Winston long enough to conclude that his moniker “Batang Yagit” is, how do I say it, a big fat lie? What with his constant jetsetting, impressive gadgetry and scruffy good looks, who would dare believe him? But that’s not to take away the fact that Winston is an overall nice guy. Always a pleasure to be with and a good sport whenever he’s the butt of jokes. My BFF Jehz is Winston’s campaign manager to win the Blogger’s Choice Award for this year’s Philippine Blog Awards. Actually, I didn’t need convincing to vote for him. I *used* to be Winston’s campaign manager for Paolo Mendoza’s Pinoy Evil Blog Awards last year, where he astoundingly won the Boy Bastos Writing Award. Looks like Winston is headed for another landslide victory. And I’m glad to be part of it.

boom-de-ah-dah.jpg

Words cannot express how much I love this commercial. Being a Discovery channel nerd, I sometimes would leave my TV on the same channel so I can watch the commercial over and over again. Of course the need for that stopped when people began posting it on Youtube. Read Full Entry

Making Money At Home Through Your 13-Year Old Child

Posted by Andrew on August 9th, 2007

Is it right to ask your own child to be your ghost writer?

I’ve been having my suspicions about this kid ever since he started blogging about “making money”. I mean, he’s only 13 right? How can he talk about moneymaking like it’s a piece of cake? Where are all his insights coming from? When I was 13, I was just entering puberty, throwing away all my toys and thinking of only one thing (hmm..) And honestly, I wouldn’t have had enough smarts to talk about making money, let alone any remotely interesting topic that’s bloggable. Then again, there was no such thing as a blog that time, but I digress.

Simpsonize Me

I had a blast watching the Simpsons movie yesterday with some friends. I laughed my ass off the hardest during the “Spiderpig, spiderpig” part. Hahaha. Anyway, I discovered a site they made where you can convert yourself into a Simpsons character, aptly called “Simpsonize Me“. You’ll need to upload a 640×480 frontal face pic of yourself and wait a few minutes.

Here’s a dorky picture of me:

Plugging Harry Potter Spoiler Leaks is Useless

I’m hearing from CNN about all the hype surrounding J.K. Rowling’s final installment for her outlandishly popular Harry Potter series. The 7th book, called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is eagerly awaited by millions of bookworms around the world. In fact, two little rabid girls in Alaska had lined up at a bookstore for 11 days and counting!

I’m also thoroughly amused to learn that Rowling’s publisher, Bloomsbury, is putting all the stops at keeping the book’s contents a secret that it had locked up all its copies in a cage! Well, thing is, my friend RJ of Comicgasm had already posted a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Spoilers post on this blog. It not only tells you which major characters die (RIP Hedwig), but includes what looks to be photographs taken of each page where the deaths happen. I also know someone who is currently reading the book from photographed pages!

I have got to brush up on my geographic skills! Check out these Asia and Europe quizzes and name as many countries as possible without cheating.

I got 36 for Asia and 25 for Europe.

Gah, most of those I missed I honestly knew, but obviously escaped my memory.

My answers after the jump (Don’t look until you have your own scores!).

The Blog Parteeh `07

Yuga’s Blog Parteeh `07 is shaping up to be the party of all parties as far as the Filipino blogosphere is concerned. I just wished it wasn’t as logistically inconvenient as it is to go — it’s going to be held in Makati City, but I’m in Davao City. What am I to do? I feel like the uninvited nerd in the thick glasses, plaid shirt and white sneakers (excuse me if you dress this way). I’d *like* to organize something similar, but bloggers are a rare species here in my lovely city. There’s probably only 20 of us tops, and I know only less than half of them. *Sigh*. Oh well. I certainly would like to get my paws on the 30gig iPod that’s being raffled off, or maybe just a box of Krispy Kremes. I don’t care. I wanna go. But. I. Can’t. On January 28th, I’m going to stave off temptation to read other Pinoy blogs and see what an enormously great time they had eating free food, lengthening blogrolls and eating tasty donuts. Damn!! For those of you reading this… pretend I was there and you actually met my pleasant self. Add me to your blogroll, will ya?

What: Blog Parteeh! 2007
When: January 27, 2007, 2PM-8PM
Where: 6th Floor (Poolside Area) Classica Tower 2 Condominium,
HV dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City

The Joys of Dial-Up

It’s probably karma. The Wifi pirate that I am, it’s inevitable that this should happen. Once again, my ever-unreliable PLDT MyDSL decided not to cooperate anymore. My whole neighborhood’s affected, and PLDT doesn’t know when it’ll be back up. This happened two days ago too.

gateway cinema

Today I ate lunch with my family at the Gateway Mall in Araneta Center. We were choosing between Italianis and Cafe Adriatico, but settled for the latter after a lengthy debate. After eating my meal of Adobo Spareribs, I wished we went for Italianis. The food there is just way better. But still I enjoyed my dessert of Suman sa Lihiya paired with a shot of Chocolate Eh (pronounced cho-ko-lah-teh — eh).

so this is what's causing traffic

I’m back in Manila. Wow. I am realizing that slowly, I’ve become some sort of a country mouse right in the city that I spent a good 7 years in. Sometimes I think that my moving back to Davao was a bad thing. But seeing what I’m seeing right now, the suburban life ain’t so bad after all. It could be the holiday season, or just the rush of people going home to their provinces, but traffic here is ten times worse compared to three years ago. That, despite all of the infrastructure put in place that siphoned Mindanao’s share of the national budget. I don’t want to rant about politics, but man, Manila needs to get a grip!

Is it just me, or did the Ateneo Blue Eagles completely suck in the last two games of the 2006 UAAP championships? Forget about my earlier post on them. The UST Tigers deserved this championship more than anyone.

“Lost” for 3 Whole Months!

Say it ain’t so, ABC. On October 4th this year our beloved series ‘Lost’ will pick up where it left off last season.

My burning questions:
Did Mr. Eko and Locke survive the explosion at the hatch? Why the heck didn’t Charlie say anything about it to Claire? And how will Jack, Kate and Sawyer escape from the Others? Will Hurley pick up a candy bar on his way back?
