Adding Alexa Rankings to Ratified.org

I’m thinking about adding Alexa data as another factor in the Ratified.org rankings. It would seem to be a weird move on my part, after labeling Alexa as downright inaccurate and useless. What do you guys think? I might be playing around with the API’s of Bloglines and Del.icio.us too. Well, let’s see how that goes.

Oh by the way, Ratified.org now has an official blog! Nothing fancy so far though. If you have any ideas on what to feature in the blog, please do share it with me! 🙂

  1. Alexa? While Alexa data might have value for US blogs, that’s not the case for Philippine-based ones, I think… Also, the way Alexa gathers statistical data is rather limited, don’t you think? Ergo, unreliable, IMHO.

  2. Hmm.. Alexa. I’m not sure. Bloglines? I don’t think a lot of people use bloglines. Delicious? A lot of Pinoys don’t even know how to bookmark! ^_^

Though such changes might prove useful to Ratified Australia.

  3. @Blogie: Yup, Alexa is not reliable. I might just add it as an “extra” type of data at Ratified but not count it in the rankings. :0

@Karlo: Yeah I’m quite aware that most Pinoys are clueless about Delicious, more so Bloglines. Do you have other ideas though?

  4. Alexa is a big NO! NO!

I’m always checking Alexa every now and then, and witnessed its inaccuracy.. ^__^

If you could include google analytics stats, that would be far way more better than alexa stats 😀

  5. Good idea, Drew! And while you’re at it, maybe you could remove PR as a metric for your rankings as well? Hahahaha! 😉

  6. I like the idea of Alexa being included… I like checking that once a week, but I’m not too keen on Bloglines… Hardly any of my 755+ subcribers use Bloglines, I think. Something like 32 people.

  7. but alexa is a big liar :(…

I have seen sites with 200+ UVs per day, but its alexa rank is higher than a website with 10k+ UVs per day..

    hindi accurate 😀 hehehe

  8. @Blogie: Take out PR? Hehe. We’ll see.

    @FruityOaty: I’ll consider that, thanks!

@Jehz: Once Google Analytics offers an API, surely I’ll factor that in!

  9. I have been checking my blog stats on different sites. I just stopped checking Alexa. It doesn’t seem to add anyting to Technorati – except a more depressing number for the rating.

I don’t see what benefit there would be in adding it.
