It shouldn’t stop one from blogging, but it might dampen the resolve a bit. I admit that when I found out that ShariCruz.com was already taken a week before I was about to register it, I lost the will and passion to blog. I wanted that domain so badly. Took me a couple more weeks to get back on track, register Misteryosa.com, then blogged away again.

The girl seems to be not worth it anymore. Move on. Geesh, I’d have killed to get an opportunity like hers anytime.

There are no problems just opportunities, think creatively. make up a word. Flickr, Google and Imeem are good examples. hey drew, couldn’t find your email anywhere. mail me instead.

As they say, if there’s a will, there’s a way. There are thousand of catchy domains that are still available if you’re creative enough. An unavailable domain is a very poor excuse not to blog, so it probably means she’s not really that interested to blog.

hello fellow Dabawenyo! I believe one characteristic of a successful blogger is to be extremely motivated in what he/she does. If one is motivated to blog about something, petty domain issues definitely won’t hinder him/her.

Thus, it’s a NO for me as well.

I dont think an unavailable domain should stop one from blogging.

If a domain name is not available, consider some alternatives. Having a blog domain that is relevant to your blog’s theme and content is important, however, if your blog has great content it doesn’t matter what domain name it would be on.

Well, if she really wants the domain. You guys could check who the owner is and try negotiating with them if ever they can sell you the domain. A little warning, It can get really pricey.

@Jon: Exactly. I figured that she’s just being stubborn and really not up to the task.

@Blogie: That’s what I’m thinking too. If we did go through with the blog (had the domain not been taken), I’m 90% certain she would have abandoned it already by now.

@Jaypee: I’m tired and she ain’t worth it anymore. The domain she wants is actually an active forum site. All the more reason to move on.

The question is, is she worth it? If yes, then you’d probably find a way to get that domain or find a way to convince her to get a different domain. Otherwise, it woudln’t be wise to waste time and best to move on and get another blogger.

When something as petty as an unavailable domain name causes everything to stall, that means there’s something else. Maybe she simply really isn’t into the blogging thing?
